NPL 2025 - DAY 17

Eidsbugarden - Spiterstulen, 55,35km + 3187 m

Eidsbugarden - Jotunheimen - Kyrkja - Galdhøpiggen - Spiterstulen

Starting the day at 5 AM in Eidsbugarden, Petr went ahead to Kyrkja (2032masl), where we met up in Høgvaglen saddle and Stina joined him for the summit. Got lucky with the weather and it cleared at the top, and we had very cool views.

Continuing to Spiterstulen we met again—Petr on foot and Stina driving. Then at 18 PM we started the ascent to Galdhøpiggen, the highest mountain in Norway and Scandinavia. After 3 hours and 45 minutes we reached the top, completely alone and with a timing unlike anything, due to the incredible foggy sunset we were lucky to witness from the summit.

The price we had to pay was a slow and rainy downclimb, which was forecasted—hence why we aimed for both summits in one day—but it was totally worth it.

So Petr could end the day with 55.35 km and 3187 height meters behind him. Great job! 👏🏼

And a big part of the Jotunheimen section on the NPL trail is successfully achieved.

Looking back, this day was actually harder than the 91 km and similar verticals over Hardangervidda a few days ago... due to much rougher, slower terrain—especially between Eidsbugarden and Olavsbu—and very damaged skin "between the legs" from the previous rainy day
