Finding Rhythm in the Chaos

The day started around 10 AM — which, compared to the last couple of days, wasn’t terrible… but still far from ideal. The goal is to start by 7, and we’re working on it. But with a project like this, finding a rhythm takes time. Especially when there’s so much going on behind the scenes that people don’t see.

It’s easy to think that as the runner, all you have to do is run. And as the support, just be there. But the truth is, every role requires full focus. You have to be completely dialed in. From logistics and gear prep to charging batteries and uploading media — it’s a lot. And just managing to eat and sleep enough each day becomes a full-time job in itself. Miss those basics, and everything else falls apart.

This morning, Stina stayed a couple of hours in Lyngdal to catch up on some work at a café, charge batteries, and get ready for the day. Then she drove to the first meeting point in Solvang, where Petr arrived for a quick but much-needed refill: food, water, fresh socks, and a powerbank or two.

From there, the trail led toward Kvinesdal — and it turned out to be a long one.

With each day, the landscape becomes more dramatic and the terrain a little more forgiving than the dense bush of the south, but it’s still tough. Still warm. And the fatigue is real. But Petr kept moving, and despite everything, managed to knock out 38 kilometers before reaching the car… at 2 AM.

Exhausted and starving, he found whatever food he could in the van and went straight to bed.

Unfortunately, Stina had a rough evening with stomach pain, and wasn’t quite in full working mode when he arrived — half-asleep, barely functioning. That’s the reality of this kind of project. You can’t expect things to always run smoothly. But we adapt. We learn. We survive another day.

Now it’s time to rest and recover — tomorrow we head toward Haddeland.(And yes, we really hope to start earlier…)
